Become A Google Certified Educator
If you’re passionate about leveraging technology to transform your classroom, the Google Certified Educator program might be for you. This professional development program was created by Google to recognise educators who demonstrate proficiency in using Google tools to enhance teaching and learning. It is a fantastic way for you to showcase your understanding of Google Workspace for Education tools and develop new ideas for teaching with technology.
What is a Google Certified Educator?
Like many other edtech providers, Google offers entry level certifications to help educators develop new skills and demonstrate their understanding of Google Workspace for Education. The certifications are a great way to grow confidence in your knowledge while building your digital toolkit!
To get started, teachers can choose to begin with Google Certified Educator Level 1. This level focuses on the basics and is great for teachers that are new to Google at their school. You’ll learn how to use the core tools in Google Workspace including Docs, Slides and Classroom.
If you are feeling more advanced, you might try your hand at Google Certified Educator Level 2. This level is targeted towards more experienced users and explores advanced features for collaboration, assessment, and personalised learning and includes applications like Maps, Earth, and Google Keep. There is no prerequisite for Level 2, so you can jump ahead if you want.
To be successful on either Level 1 or Level 2 certification, educators should be familiar with all the core Google Workspace for Education tools covered on the exam and score 80% or above on a 35 question, active multiple choice exam (fee applies). This exam assesses your understanding and practical application of the tools. To help you identify the skills that you need to be successful, we created a Checklist for each of the exams:
