Google Champions Announcement
At Deploy Learning, we have been supporting the Google for Education team since 2007 and we are excited to be involved in a brand-new program that celebrates teachers and trainers around the world.
Google has always been good about recognising and supporting teachers for their use of technology in the classroom. They started with a small, one-day event called the Google Certified Teacher Academy back in 2006 for teachers in and around the San Francisco Bay area. To apply to this event, you had to be within 161km (100 mi) of Google’s Headquarters in Mountain View, California. That event kicked off an amazing 17-year run of recognising teachers as Innovators, Trainers, and Coaches. These groups of Certified Educators have inspired and supported countless professionals while representing important milestones and communities of practice. Google Certifications help teachers feel seen for their expertise, passion and system-wide work using Google tools to positively impact education. They are indeed champions for students, other educators, and for the future of education.
We have seen these programs evolve to include over 8000 educators from all over the world. As the technology and the needs of teachers change, so do the programs. In June at the International Society for Education (ISTE) Conference in Philidelphia, USA, the Google for Education team announced that they are uniting and elevating the Innovator, Trainer, and Coach certifications into one amazing program called Google for Education Champions, increasing the visibility and support for each program while maintaining each individually. All existing Certified Innovators, Trainers, and Coaches are automatically inducted as Champions.
To kick off the program with some fun, Google Champions will have access to a new online community hub and more streamlined support. Most exciting is the launch of seven in-person events at Google offices around the world between September 2023 – April 2024. Only existing Certified Innovators, Trainers, or Coaches can apply to attend any one of these 3-day events geared toward deepening advocacy skills, exploring innovative new tools and reconnecting with other Champions.

Mexico City application deadline is August 2, 2023, 11:59pm US-PT
Dublin application deadline is August 15, 2023, 11:59pm US-PT
Sydney application deadline is September 13, 2023, 11:59pm US-PT
Tokyo application deadline is January 2, 2024, 11:59pm US-PT
If you are not part of the program yet, we can help get you on track to become a Google Champion by 2024. Get started with our popular Level 1 and Level Certified Educator course on August 28. We are also planning a Certified Trainer cohort for November where you can learn to become a great trainer while preparing your application to become certified.
