Jim Sill
Founder and Coach
Jim Sill is the founder of Deploy Learning Pty Ltd. As an educational consultant, his goal is to provide inspiration, guidance and support to businesses and educational institutions in their efforts to better leverage technology to achieve their goals.
Jim started his career in the video and television industry and spent a decade fine-tuning those skills before hanging up his producer hat to embark on a career in education. Using his industry experience, he created an award-winning video production program in Visalia, California. He developed a program involving students in real-world video projects that garnered awards and recognition at the local, state, and national levels. In 2012, Jim was featured in Edutopia and their Teach2Learn series for his work in Building Career Skills in Video Production. Many of his former students now work in the industry.
As a Google Certified Innovator and Trainer, Jim made the move to leading professional development workshops on Google’s collaborative tools, social media, and video production. A popular keynote speaker at Education Summits across the globe, Jim enjoys telling great stories and inspiring people to tell theirs.
Today, Jim lives in Melbourne, Australia with his family. He works with schools across Australia and New Zealand leading professional development workshops, creating educational initiatives on using video for social change, developing media literacies, encouraging creativity in students, and using Google Workspace in the classroom. He also works with businesses to audit and assess their technology needs and provide education and support to employees in integrating new tools and platforms into their daily routines.
Phil Carew
Head of HyFlex Learning and Design
Phil is the Head of Hyflex Learning and Design at Deploy Learning. In this role, he develops engaging online courses, delivers workshops, collaborates on global events and designs resources to help educators transform their classrooms.
He has over 15 years of experience in schools, including senior leadership and teaching VCE Media. Phil specialises in leveraging Google Workspace and Google’s AI tools, such as Gemini and NotebookLM, to reduce teacher workload and spark creativity.
He has contributed to significant industry events, including the Google Innovator Academy in Seoul (where he was the Design Thinking Facilitator), the Google Champions Symposium in Singapore and Sydney, and EduTech Australia. Phil is passionate about supporting educators to use technology in meaningful, purposeful and impactful ways to enhance student learning outcomes. He loves travelling, film and television, and, of course, Google Classroom!
